Soothe Your Soul at Shinjuku Gyoen
In the busy city of Tokyo, it is unbelievable to find sanctuary, peace, and quiet. But in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, you will be in awe by Mother nature and varied gardens of sorts.Â
A large well-known park that has beautiful Japanese, French and English style gardens. You can understand the work of Mother Nature and appreciate its beauty.
Within the park, you will find buildings related to the Imperial household. There are also Japanese Tea House and varied cafes in the park. The present location of the garden was originally one part of Edo residence of Lord Naito, the vassal of Ieyasu Tokugawa. The park was opened to the public as a national garden after the war in 1949.
This Japanese garden has been used as the setting for a well know Japanese animation movie – The Garden of Words.
Sitting down in one of the beautiful huts located sporadically within the Japanese Gardens, you can truly feel zen and tranquility seeping into the pores of your skin.
The park covers 58.3 ha which is about 145 acres and is open from 9am to 4.30pm.
You need to pay an admission fee of Yen200 (AUD 2.50) for adults and be mindful that the park is closed on Mondays.
